MBTA Kiosk Redesign -- Prototyping

Redesigning the MBTA Kiosk Ticketing System
This redesign was a team project, motivated by the out-dated system the MBTA currently uses in their ticket kiosks -- one that is a huge mismatch with the current MBTA website. We began the redesign by exploring the pain points for both commuters and out-of-town users of the current system.
After looking at user pain points, we proceeded with designing an initial paper prototype to conduct usability testing. Our goals in the prototype were to remove extraneous screens, to reload a charliecard or ticket with prices corresponding to the number of rides a user gets, and to be able to buy multiple one-time use tickets at a time.
After usability testing, we found that our prototype needed to give more guidance to our users throughout the process. After making appropriate changes, we created a usability video of the prototype, which shows the ticket-buying process for both out-of-towners and commuters.
